Podcasting FAQ - New Site for Podcasters

I am an avid fan of podcasting and also for the work that Todd Cochrane and the Raw Voice team do for podcasters.  I have been a member of Blubrry and love their collaborative style. The team have now launched a new resource which will help anyone who is thinking about podcasting, or indeed what to know more about podcasting - PodcastFAQ. Here is what they say is the aim of the site

"Welcome to podcastFAQ.com, a website committed to providing everything you need to know about podcasting. This site aims to contain the most up-to-date information for podcast creators, consumers and businesses. The content on podcastFAQ.com is intended to be easy to find, to the point, and without clutter.

Whether you’re a new or seasoned podcaster, an avid listener/viewer, or just someone interested in podcasts, we hope to have something for you. Go ahead; it's easy. Use the navigation on the left to explore the breadth of the site.

podcastFAQ.com is the result of a bunch of us podcasters – who are also the founders of RawVoice Inc. – going to meet-ups, podcamps and expos preaching our love, passion and knowledge of podcasting. It dawned on us that we had all this information about podcasting, but nowhere to put it."

Knowing the team, this will be an invaluable resource for podcasters to check out.

Trip Advisor Example of How to Use Widgets

We recently did a couple of podcasts on Widgets on the Evolution of Web Marketing and the World of Widgets showing how people are using widgets to increase brand awareness and how they can be used to create consumer engagement.

Well I came across a great widget from Trip Advisor which is fun, informative and yes, engaging! I thought it was a good example for people who were still confused following our description...

For anyone who would like to know I got 164,000, which no doubt is useless!

3 Tools to Get You Started in Blogging

I met a wonderful group of people at the Carmanthenshire and promised to blog with the answers to some of their questions.

Q: If you have set up a blog but are new to blogging and RSS, what tools would you suggest I should use?

A: Google Reader as a way of subscribing to blogs.
B: Google Alerts so that you can create notifications of who is talking about your company, about you, about your region maybe or talking about your area of expertise - whatever is important to you. Once these are set up there is an option to receive either an email or RSS subscription of the notifications. When you get notifications, you can click through to the reference, say to your company and leave a follow up comment.
C: Sign up at Technorati. Once you have an account you can claim your blog and also set up a watchlist which is like a Google Alert. Set up a watchlist for the name of your blog and your name, as another way of managing your reputation on line.

The Podcast Sisters Podcast Has Just Been Reviewed!

We have just been reviewed by the Podcast Junky UK! It's always great to hear about what our listeners have to say about us and we really appreciate Alex of The Podcast Junky UK writing up a review - thanks Alex.

Here are a few comments from Alex about the Podcast Sisters Podcast:

"Although the The Podcast Sisters brand their show as “The Podcast For The Non Geek”, these 3 women do know their stuff and it’s a great podcast for learning how you can leverage new media and social networking to build not only your business, but also how you can use new media and social networking from scratch to find out just what it’s all about."

"You’re bound to relate to at least one, if not to all three of the The Podcast Sisters as each one has their own experience, field of expertise, and skill level within the social network, new media world and business world… and like I say, even if you’re not in business, then you’ll still something to learn in this podcast."

"So, to listen to a great non-geek podcast by 3 women, who I suspect may be more than a little techie on the side, then head on over to The Podcast Sisters now…"

Alex I can promise you I'm not technical - I understand the terminology but have others in my business manage the podcast production - I focus on content creation about branding leadership and business development strategies.  Heather also outsources her podcast production too - but she is never far away from her Mac as you will see here (listening to podcasts while baking - she was online reading the recipe - and I'll leave you to think for yourself other places she takes her Mac!). As for Anna - well I think she may be a closet junkie and she's a wiz at editing her own and our podcasts! But don't tell i told you this will you!

If you are looking for podcast to listen to, do mouse over to the Podcast Junky UK where you can access Alex's other reviews - I'm sure you'll find some other great podcasts to listen to - perhaps when you're baking a cake too! Just be sure to protect your PC or Mac from the flour - you have been warned!

Creating the perfect public sector website

If you are based in Ireland, and have accountability for online marketing in the public sector, you might be interested in a forthcoming programme hosted by the Irish Internet Association.

This one-day conference focuses on user experience, accessibility and inclusive design for the public sector. It is relevant to those who work in the public sector and to those who supply services to the public sector.

The conference addresses the website design and build issues faced by the public sector and those working with the public sector every day.

The event is taking place on the 22 January 2008 Event Date : 22 Jan 2008 at the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin 8 and costs €175.00 per person or €95.00 per person if you are a non member.

You can book your place online. I've attended many IIA events and have definately found them worthwhile so if online marketing and communications in the public sector is one of the your key areas of responsibility, make sure you pencil this in your calendar.

2 Out of 3 Podcast Sisters Ain't Bad!

Tomorrow night Heather and Anna are talking at a Womens Biz Network event in Carmanthenshire. They will be talking about how they use social media in their businesses and giving a practical training session on blogging and podcasting. (Anna was wondering why Heather asked her to join in!)

It is only an hour but plenty of chance to ask all those questions that you are dying to ask us for the show - we may even take our recorder along to capture the questions for a future show!

Note to the other podcast sisters - maybe we should do a live road show with all 3 this summer - anyone interested?
