I follow Lewis Green's work and was lucky enough to interview him on The Engaging Brand podcast, a few months ago. This week, he shares some data recently uncovered by Nielson. The global survey's goal was designed to find out which of the advertising platforms in use today consumers most trust. Here are the survey's conclusions:
- Word of mouth 78%
- Newspaper ads 63%
- Consumer opinions posted online 61%
- Company websites 60%
- Magazines ads 56%
- Television ads 56%
- Radio ads 54%
- E-mail 49%
- Brand sponsorships 49%
- In-theater movie ads 38%
- Search engine ads 34%
- Online banner ads 26%
- Mobile phone text ads 18%
Another reason why I believe social media has to be part of your marketing strategy, me thinks!

As always I hope you are well. Thanks for the shout out.

I agree, word of mouth will be more difficult if people do not use face to face contact. Most conversations happen using phones. email etc,so yes, there has to be a trend move towards using podcasts, blogs etc.Guess soon we will have not only visual ads but audio ones on blogs?
