Yesterday I said that I had attended the blogging conference and that I was impressed with the presentation from Eileen Brown from Microsoft. Many times I am faced with people saying "I love blogging but how do you control it in a business community?" Well, Eileen shared the Microsoft approach - a 2 word policy, love it just 2 words! BLOG SMART. No hefty documents, no 1000 line policies just trust and respect that employees will be honest about their work and respect their company's reputation. She also shared 10 lessons as a blogger, here is where I am embarrassed because I seem to have only written down 9! Forgive me but I thought they were well worth sharing with you....
- Blog frequently
- Answer every comment
- Don't sell to readers
- Traffic is NOT the goal
- Be authentic
- Expect criticism
- Don't blog when you are drunk or angry!
- Never delete a post - it brings more attention.
